Holy shit. Frieren met another elf. I didn't think it'd happen so soon. And he's voiced by Takehito Koyasu no less.

I guess we're back to the traveling SOL aspect of the show again which I don't mind. It was obvious that action wasn't the focus of this show from the beginning and honestly, that might be for the better though I will miss the Aura vs Frieren epic showdown.

I like the cute moments between Stark and Fern.

The previous battle is over and now we get to the actual meat of the story. Which should last for quite a few episodes.

I don't want to be cynical, but I can't help but fear some people will suddenly start lowering their score for this anime and claim that "nothing's happening" while ignoring the actual themes of the story. Vinland Saga season 2 style.

Yeah, I agree. I have watched nearly 200 animes till now, slowly and slowly my taste began to change in anime and I started liking Sol more.

This is exactly what I need right now, a relaxing and chill episode of Frieren.

Following the aftermath of the battle, a sense of tranquility and stability returns to the city. After all of that action, it’s really relieving to see Stark’s childish nature come back for some good comedic relief. Must’ve been scared of that man with a giant axe for a while haha. I already saw that Milet did a second song dubbed “Bliss” in the ending tab on the anime page, but by the Goddess of Creation, the music of Frieren continues to get better with every episode. That is such a good insert song.

The fantastic worldbuilding continues to grow note by note. Now it’s expanding on more of the Northern Lands, the CMA, and religion. Kraft is here and it’s surprising to hear Koyasu in a non-antagonistic role haha. A relatively calm sequence as the party and Kraft huddle in for the long winter. This time around, the flashback focuses on Heiter which is a nice change of focus. Even though Heiter is often joked as a corrupt priest, he’s had his own impact on Fern and Frieren. He’d be proud of Fern right now while the relationship between him and Frieren is of value to Frieren.

As the winter ends, the party and Kraft leave on their own journey just as fast as they met. The next location for the group.. Äußerst.

Great episode as always, looking forward to see the next arc!
Have a fabulous Frieren Friday :]

Even the "weak" Frieren episodes are high quality content both in terms of visuals and storywriting. Really has a knack of just getting you immersed and mesmerized while bringing up thought-provoking themes. Man I love this series so much!

A tribute to the fallen heroes, and a journey into the chilly Northern Lands...

A much more relaxing episode this week with the aftermath of the battle, and it was great to hear Milet's insert song "Bliss", to capture the emotions of saluting the fallen heroes. The second half of the episode saw Frieren and friends venture into the Northern Lands, and the winters there look gruelling for sure. We also got to meet Kraft the Monk, and through him, learned about some of the lore and religion in the world. Although this was more of a slow episode, this is what this anime's identity is, the more mundane moments, and seeing time pass by quickly. I wonder where we go from here, as we're getting into the meat of the story.

After the last arc which was amazing we now go back to more of the SoL type mixed with more flashbacks, this time with Heiter. It was moving how Frieren stopped herself from saying that Heiter was dead to saying he's in heaven.

A breath of fresh air episode. Although there was no combat/action at all this episode, I still felt engaged as we got some plot development with us finally meeting another elf other than Frieren. Seems like next episode we would get some more interesting stuff going on. Overall still liked the episode even though it wasn't as hype as last week's episode cuz it felt like we needed a breather episode in some time.

Another beautiful and poignant episode. After the action of the last few weeks, it’s nice to get back to slower character driven episodes like this. Miler’s new insert song for the episode gave me goosebumps. Her voice is just perfect for this story.

Meeting another elf was really cool. I wonder if there’s any more out there that we’ll encounter.

The journey through the northern lands was brutal, but I couldn’t help wondering why no one invented a spell to keep you warm or shield you from the elements. I guess if that existed then we wouldn’t have got the meeting with the other elf and Frieren wouldn’t have grown a little more pious lol.

Speaking of which, I love how over the course of the 6 months, we see Frieren start to accept the Goddess, or at least become more open to the idea. Initially as the dinner scenes are shown she’s just eating while everyone else is praying and eventually she starts praying as well.

Another nice flashback scene after the elf priest talks about praising Frieren, reminding her of her previous journey with the hero’s party. The look on Frieren’s face when Heiter praised her ability to conceal her aura was so cute. I love how moments like that have stuck with her all these years later.

Stark thought he got a jumbo berry special and ended up with some nice warm Kraft mac & cheese. Dunno if that counts as a win.

They're really making it a mission to have every single flashback with the original party be a feels trip, aren't they? If only that corrupt priest could see Fern now.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but did Kraft mention that he has met the goddess once? He's probably over 5000 years old when people were still using stones as tools.

Another amazing episode.

@Janethan23 For this series' world (after watching this episode), it looks like a hundred years is only something like a year or a decade to them.
Then he also called Frieren as someone younger than him... So it's probably like that ↑↑↑

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I swear, every frieren episode is always better than the last. This episode, aswell as introducing a new character, finally completed the arc (idk the name) which was one of my favourite arcs in all of anime. Apart from that, since it did just finish an arc and didnt have any time for introducing a new one, they decided to add a lot more comedy than usual which is something that you dont see in the manga. A good example is starks weird dream and him waking up.

Coming from me, This was an 8.5/10. My reasons are that it:
-had good animation (applies to all episodes)
-had good after-story about the previous arc
-had good comedy

That's it i guess. Dont rly know what else to add

Interesting, 1000+ years old is considered young.

How old is Kraft then?
3000 - 5000 years old doesn’t sound like out of possibility.
@Mainnus In my opinion, I think Kraft has to be atleast 6000 years old as he is starting to age (In human years about in his 40s)

Really an amazing show with mesmerizing visuals, art and music.
Adding to that is the novelty of telling the story from the perspective of a thousand year old elf, with near eternal life as she sees countless friends and heroes disappear of old age around her.
The humor in this show also adds a very nice touch without being silly or over the top.
One of my very few 10/10. It's just that good!

Kinda surprised they didn't stay at the town for longer if winter was coming. Frieren probably wouldn't have thought of it but the Graf would have.

Unless maybe the hut was a lot further from the town (a few months) than they made it seem (a few days/weeks).

Still, I guess it was good for Kraft that they did.

The demons have been defeated, the knights have been buried, and one of the harshest winters have passed. Traveling to Endo is still our main goal.

Cool to see Frieren talk to another elf, thought they'd talk a bit more but it was interesting to see the elf's take on religion.

@falko92 Physically, all the bits are there. All they lack is motivation. The past elves clearly had some reason they did it, even if pragmatic rather than instinctive in nature.

How is this series so cool. Frieren has been around people who are considered myths nowadays, like Flamme, the founder of humanity's magic, but Kraft is implied to have been around since before the last time the Goddess showed up! I can only imagine what he's accomplished in his life that he wants the Goddess to praise him for...

After riding the wave of excitement from that epic last arc, a laid-back, slow-paced episode like this really brings back the essence of what initially captivated me in this storyline. It's like a masterclass in weaving emotions and melancholy through dialogue.

The theme of elves witnessing their own race fading into obscurity hits hard, and the notion of seeing your achievements and companions erode over time is genuinely disheartening. Kraft could have been a hero on par with Frieren, and the thought adds another layer of depth.

There's this nostalgic vibe, reminiscent of 90s Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem, where the final scenarios often introduced a super old hero from a bygone era. Frieren's character is sparking a desire in me to dive back into those games.
